Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO)

Populairwetenschappelijk schrijven

To support the FWO’s requirement for a popular article at the end of each PhD, we organized five writing courses across Flanders. 47 researchers participated; 41 blogs were published in collaboration with Eos Wetenschap, with several gaining national media coverage.

UAntwerpen (V&V)

Social media for science communication

We delivered an inspiration session for professors, assistants, and education coordinators in Nursing and Midwifery at UAntwerpen. The focus: choosing the right platform, crafting effective posts, and key do’s and don’ts for engaging science communication on social media.

SkinTERM

Video and Pitching

For the SkinTERM consortium, we developed a hands-on course to help nine researchers pitch their work to a broader audience. Their final videos were professionally recorded during the annual meeting in Nijmegen.

*The SkinTERM Project was funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant No. 955722)
Other partners we’ve worked with include: Vlerick Business School, FWO (Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek), Ghent University, imec, LPI KU Leuven Plant Institute, Universiteit Antwerpen (UAntwerpen), and the SkinTERM consortium.

Together, we’ve developed customized trainings and sessions that help researchers turn their science into stories that resonate — whether through writing, video, pitching, or social media.

What our partner organizations say

Kim Barbé (FWO)

Popular science writing, Infographics & Presenting

The sessions gave our researchers the opportunity to improve their science communication skills. From writing an inspiring article and creating a clear infographic about their research to improving their stage skills, all the different aspects of science communication were covered. An exciting experience that will help our young researchers to bring their research to the general public!

Inspiratiesessie social media for science communication

Video and pitching

"I am very grateful to SciMingo for this unique experience! From concept to recording, the team was so professional! They tailored each movie perfectly, ensuring it matched the researchers' unique pitches and key messages. Thanks to this training, researchers gained confidence, stepped out of their comfort zones, and felt assured their topics could make a difference as business or social impact cases, reaching audiences from Boomers to Gen Z!"

"It was a true pleasure working with the SciMingo team! They created a tailored plan and provided step-by-step guidance for our twelve early-stage researchers. Thanks to Scimingo’s support and their expert feedback, the researchers gained confidence on camera and delivered compelling pitches. The final videos make our science projects both accessible and inspiring to a wide audience!"
