Podcasting
How do you turn your research into a captivating audio story? Join our intensive three day in-person workshop series in Brussels to find out — and walk away with a finished podcast episode that’s yours to share.
Discover the unique creative potential of audio storytelling and learn to think in sound.
Build narratives, create tension and engage listeners — skills that carry over into lectures, grant proposals and academic writing.
Get practical guidance and technical tools to confidently bring your story to life, whatever your prior experience.
This hands-on course teaches you to think in sound, write for the ear, record voices and ambient sound, and turn it all into a professionally finished podcast. You’ll develop your own characters, shape a compelling storyline and build a structure that hooks your listeners.
Before the workshop days you explore a curated selection of inspiring podcasts on our online platform. Then, across three in-person days in Brussels, you dive into audio storytelling and the technical craft — recording, editing and mixing — with both group and individual feedback. You leave with a complete episode, yours to share.

Joris Van Damme is a freelance audio and podcast producer. He graduated from RITCS in 2009 with his fiction project Ik Zal Het U Vertellen (I Will Tell You About It), which won the Prix Europa for media fiction — Europe’s most prestigious media award.
Since then, he has been a driving force behind DS Audio, working on fiction and non-fiction stories for radio and podcast, as well as theatre and film. In this course, he guides you through both the storytelling and the technical side of podcast production, helping you turn an idea into a finished audio story.
Joris has worked on a range of Belgian audio productions, including news, documentary and science-oriented podcasts.

On day one we were handed a recording device and a mission: create ten minutes of podcast material. The tips on storytelling, recording and editing — plus the constructive feedback — helped me craft the first episode of FlowerPower De Tuin. I’m really proud of the result!

As a lawyer I usually work with text on paper, so translating my scientific story into sound was a fascinating challenge. It makes you think about your audience, your core message and how to play with music and sound design. I’d never edited anything before, and now I’ve produced a thirteen-minute podcast. Incredibly energizing!
