From research to podcast

In this hands-on course, you will learn to think in sound, write for the ear, record voices and ambient sounds, and turn them into a professionally finished podcast. From idea to final product, we guide you through every step.

You’ll develop your own characters, shape a compelling storyline, and build a structure that hooks your listeners. By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with a complete podcast episode—yours to share with the world.

What to expect?

Before the workshop days begin, you’ll explore a curated selection of inspiring podcasts via our online platform and learn to analyze what makes them effective.

Then, over three in-person workshop days in Brussels, you’ll dive into the art of audio storytelling. You’ll learn how to build suspense, develop narrative arcs, create memorable characters, and think critically about sound as a storytelling medium. Alongside creative work, we’ll teach you the technical side of podcasting, including recording, editing, and mixing.

With both group and individual feedback, we ensure your story takes shape in a way that’s authentic and engaging. You’ll leave the course with a podcast episode you’ve crafted yourself.

What’s in it for you?

Throughout this course, you’ll learn how to think in sound and explore the unique creative potential of audio storytelling. You’ll enhance your ability to construct narratives, build tension, and engage listeners—skills that carry over into your work as a researcher, from lectures and grant proposals to writing academic articles.

We’ll support you with practical guidance and technical tools to help you confidently bring your story to life, no matter your prior experience.

What previous participants say

Stephanie Schelfhout

"Finally, the final push toward podcasting! On day one, we were handed a recording device and a mission: ‘Create ten minutes of podcast material.’ The tips and tricks on storytelling, recording, and editing helped me craft the first episode of FlowerPower De Tuin, along with the constructive feedback. I'm really proud of the result!"

Truly energizing!

Dominique De Meyst

"As a lawyer, I usually work with text on paper, so it was a fascinating challenge to translate my scientific story into sound. It makes you think about who your audience is, what the core message is, and how to play with music and sound design. I had never edited anything before, and now I’ve produced a thirteen-minute podcast. It’s incredibly energizing!"
